A top NBA prospect from Chicago was picked by the Sacramento Kings.

With the No. 13 choice in the June NBA draft, the Kings will consider all of their possibilities, but in the interim, they are carefully assessing potential. Among them are a few athletes who are considered to be first-round selections.

A league source confirmed to The Sacramento Bee that the Kings had meetings with multiple prospects during last week’s NBA draft combine in Chicago. This information was first reported by Fox 40’s Sean Cunningham. The athletes Alex Sarr, Donovan Clingan, Dalton Knecht, Ja’Kobe Walter, Cody Williams, and Sacramento resident Jared McCain were among those that visited with the Kings’ executives.

In the most recent consensus mock draft by NBA.com, Sarr, 19, is ranked as the first pick. The 224-pound, 7-foot-1 power forward/center for Perth in the Australian National Basketball League finished the previous season with an average of 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks.

Twenty-year-old Clingan, a 7-foot-3, 282-pound center, is predicted to be selected as the consensus No. 5 pick. As a sophomore, he led UConn to the NCAA championship with averages of 13.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks.

The 23-year-old Knecht is expected to go number ten. As a senior at Tennessee, the 6-6 ½ small forward averaged 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 39.7% from three-point range. In his first year at Colorado, Williams, a 6-7 ¾ small forward, averaged 11.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. His anticipated pick position is No. 11.

Walter, 19, is currently projected by NBA.com’s consensus mock draft to go to the Kings at No. 13. During his freshman year at Baylor, the 6-5 ½ shooting guard finished with an average of 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. He also shot 37.6% from the field and 34.1% from 3-point range.

The shooting and defensive potential is there, and there’s a penchant for getting to the line, according to NBA.com. Contributions might come in quickly, and playwriting might arrive later.

McCain, 20, is a 6-3, 197-pound guard who played his freshman year at Duke with an average of 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. He made 41.4% of his 3-pointers and 46.2% of his field goals. He’s been projected as a late lottery choice in some mock drafts. Prior to attending Centennial High School in Corona, McCain was born in Sacramento.
