Three people have been taken into custody in relation to the videotaped armed robbery and murder of a smoke shop employee in North Miami Beach.

William Robinson, 22, was arrested Tuesday on first-degree murder and armed robbery charges in the June 11 killing of 35-year-old Salem Albakri, an arrest warrant said.

Albakri had been working at Miami Cloudz at 2063 Northeast 163rd Street when he was discovered on the floor of the store with a gunshot wound lying in a pool of blood.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Surveillance cameras captured the entire incident that led to his killing.

In the video, Albakri was approached by four men who had entered the store and asked to inspect a number of items.

One of the suspects once takes a gun out of his red hooded sweatshirt’s front pocket and points it at Albakri.

When Albakri noticed the gun, he attempted to run away toward the back of the establishment, but the shooter fired a shot, striking Albakri in the back, according to the warrant.

Robinson took off with a big jar that seemed to contain marijuana as the suspects departed the store, according to the warrant.

While watching the merchandise, Robinson was seen in the video placing his hand on the glass counter. Detectives were able to obtain fingerprints from the counter, which were subsequently identified as belonging to Robinson, according to the warrant.

Additionally, the request stated that investigators used a surveillance photo and put it through a face recognition program, which verified Robinson’s identity as one of the suspects.

Robinson was detained on September 12, 2023, in Miami Beach, according to a review of the documents. The warrant stated that the arresting officer had verified his identity by presenting body-worn camera footage from the 2023 arrest, in addition to his identification from the surveillance.

Records indicated that Robinson was placed into jail and kept there without bond.

If any of the other suspects have been located or taken into custody, the authorities have not indicated.
