Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray voted NFL Player of the Week after historic NFL Week 2
In the Arizona Cardinals’ 41-10 NFL Week 2 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, Kyler Murray was honored for his outstanding performance.
Murray was selected as the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for Week 2 after going 17-for-21 throwing for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
With his performance on Sunday, he achieved a perfect passer rating of 158.3, making him, along with Kurt Warner, the second quarterback in Cardinals history to do so (minimum 20 attempts).
During the game, Murray also ran for 59 yards on five carries.
Regarding Murray’s performance in Week 2, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon remarked, “He was lights out.” There’s a reason he’s a premium player. You would pit him against everyone. I feel that way. That’s what he said.
Alongside Cincinnati’s Ken Anderson, Murray became just the second player in NFL history to record at least 250 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, and a 158.3 passer rating in a single game.
In a 1974 game, Anderson totaled 297 yards, 62 rushing yards, and a 158.3 rating.
According to a statement announcing Murray’s triumph, FedEx will collaborate with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to donate $2,000 to historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in Kyler Murray’s honor.
