Pham’s first Royals home run ends Kansas City’s losing streak.

For the past few days, the Royals have been looking for anything positive to come their way, whether it be a big hit or a break.

Tommy Pham struck it out with one blow.

The Royals defeated the American League Central-leading Guardians 4-1 on Wednesday night, stopping a seven-game losing streak and concluding the series on a more positive one than it did the previous week thanks to a three-run home run that was part of a four-run fourth inning. Due to Vinnie Pasquantino’s broken right thumb, the Royals have not only experienced their longest losing streak of the year but have also lost their first baseman for the probable remainder of the regular season. It has been a difficult week.

The Royals are still in a strong position, though, and the postseason chase goes on. As the third Wild Card club, Kansas City leads Cleveland by five games despite trailing them by four and a half games in the division over the Tigers, who are playing in San Diego on Wednesday night.

The Royals snapped a six-game streak of scoring three runs or fewer in one inning. With an RBI single that slid down the center to level the score at one, Michael Massey ended a 0-for-17 slump for the Royals.
That put Pham on a roll, as he fired a 423-foot moonshot over the Sonic signage in left-center field, as projected by Statcast. It was his first home run as a Royal and his ninth of the year. Despite the team’s general offensive shortcomings, Pham has been a nice fit at the top of the lineup since Kansas City acquired him this past weekend. The Royals batted and were outscored 39-17 during the seven-game losing streak.166 overall, which includes.162 while there are runners in scoring position. It was now possible for the Royals to score some runs.

Seth Lugo, the starter, ensured that the Guardians didn’t. Wednesday night, the right-hander gave up just one run in seven innings while giving up six hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. One of the Royals’ greatest starts of the season delivered just what the team needed, and relievers Kris Bubic and Lucas Erceg shut out the final two innings.
