Atlanta Braves mix music and baseball on ‘Ludacris night’..
The Atlanta Braves celebrated Ludacris on Wednesday night with a series of activities that highlighted up-and-coming musicians and highlighted the city’s influence on the music business and culture. The Braves will give a unique Ludacris bobblehead to the first 15,000 fans that arrive at Truist Park as part of their celebration of Ludacris.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper is depicted in the bobblehead wearing a Hank Aaron jersey, holding a microphone in his right hand and, of course, a gold watch for fashion. Ludacris used the identical hands from his “Get Back” music video to toss out the ceremonial first pitch against the Colorado Rockies.
The Braves honored Ludacris before the game with a performance by his official DJ, picture stations featuring his album covers over the years, and a food truck called “Luda’s at The Battery,” which was modeled after the rapper’s Chicken and Beer restaurant. The multiplatinum rapper’s relationship with Atlanta’s major sports clubs is by no means new. During the halftime show of the New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons Week 12 game in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2023, he made headlines by rappelling from the stadium’s roof.
Among other songs, he sang “Welcome to Atlanta,” “Number One Spot,” “Yeah!” and “Move” at the World Series celebration in 2021. The Braves’ 2023 City Connect uniform unveiling video included Ludacris as well.
