He has been fired: Oregon Ducks Coach Dan Lanning is replaced by rivals from the Los Angeles Rams after making a “disappointed” speech in the locker room concerning the…..

Oregon coach Dan Lanning was disappointed with the team’s performance, despite the fact that the Ducks’ numbers against the Idaho Vandals in their 2024 college football debut appeared impressive. Following Saturday night’s 24-14 victory, coach Lanning addresses his squad in the locker room in a video that Oregon football has made public.

“I’m disappointed in the process tonight, not the result, the process. ” said coach Lanning to the Ducks. “Process wasn’t sharp enough. I’m not going to let you down by saying, ‘great win.’ That is not the way I feel. Hey, they (Idaho) played a good game. Credit to them. Do not discredit anything that they did. But I want to own our standard. Our stands doesn’t change regardless of who we play.”

“Who are we playing?” asked coach Lanning to the Ducks.

Lanning nodded and said, “We are playing Oregon, we are playing us.” “So what’s your measure for next week’s match against Oregon? You pick yourself up and decide this is the place where you can improve. This is my opportunity to improve my team. It should make you all very pleased to wear that green. I’m proud to be your coach, I swear to you.”Coach Lanning and the Ducks’ comeback from a dismal opening contest is encouraging as Oregon gets ready for the remaining games of the season. Lead by a coach who can effectively communicate team improvements, the Ducks are aiming for both a Big Ten Title and a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

There is a noticeable distinction to coach Lanning’s approach and other coaches’ approaches around college football. For example, when the LSU Tigers were upset by the USC Trojans on a national stage on Sunday night, LSU coach Brian Kelly slammed his fists on the postgame press conference table and talked about how “angry” he was at his team.

After a 24-14 win against the Idaho Vandals, the Oregon Ducks fell to No. 6 in the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sept. 3. The Ducks were ranked No. 3 by the same poll in the preseason, but Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss jumped them after the close win over the Vandals. The Ducks were favored by nearly 50 points over the Vandals, and Oregon coach Dan Lanning expressed his frustrations after the game. Different than what we thought it might look like,” said Lanning. “On the same note, got to give a lot of credit to Idaho. They played a really good game. They didn’t give us anything for free. A lot of learning moments for us.”

Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw for 380 yards and two touchdowns, both of them to wide receiver Tez Johnson. The Ducks defense shut out the Vandals in the first half, allowing 14 points total. The biggest mover of the poll were the USC Trojans after their upset over the LSU Tigers, moving nine spots to No. 14. The Tigers dropped seven spots after the loss, and Clemson fell eight spots after losing to Georgia.
