drafted Fehoko in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft out of San Jose State. Dallas spent three of its first four draft picks on defensive players that year. Durden, meanwhile, was looking to bounce back from an ACL injury that occurred last year. He

he Dallas Cowboys are days away from their first game of the 2024 regular season, but they have yet to sign quarterback Dak Prescott to a new contract. Now, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini is shedding light on why she says it’s taking so long for the two parties to come to an agreement.
Appearing Tuesday, September 3, on her “Scoop City” podcast, Russini shared the simple reason why she says the talks between the Cowboys and Prescott are taking so long. The holdup at this point from what I understand is about the years the Dallas Cowboys are willing to commit to,” she explained.
According to Russini, the Cowboys are deciding whether they want to keep Prescott in the fold “longer than two, three, four years,” since Prescott is asking for a long-term commitment with the team.
Prescott, who is about to enter his final year on the contract, inked a four-year, $160 million agreement with Dallas in 2021. With just nine interceptions and a career-high 36 touchdowns while completing 69.5% of his passes for 4,516 yards, he enjoyed the best year of his NFL career in 2023.
Would Dak Prescott Be a Desirable Free Agent?
Of course, if Prescott becomes available for the 2025 season, a lot of teams might be interested in signing him.
If the New York Giants cut their ties with quarterback Daniel Jones, Bleacher Report predicted Prescott will wind up there in a feature that ran on September 2 and focused on each NFL team’s major flaws.
